Fremont Debate Academy – Register by 10/17

Fremont Debate Academy (FDA), a 501 © (3) non-profit organization, is running an 8 week long free competitive debate program focusing on the Middle School Public Debate Format at Brookvale Elementary School. This program is for 4th – 6th graders; however, 5th-6th graders will be given priority in terms of registration. Students will learn various structured forms of argumentation, and research techniques. Through practice sessions, drills, and mini-competitions, students’ public speaking skills will be vastly improved. At the end of the school year, all students can participate in the FDA international tournament!

Over the past 8 years, FDA has impacted over 5000 elementary and middle school students. Under our instruction, students and alumni internationally over the past 3 years have championed or qualified to elimination rounds 200+ times, accumulated 350+ winning records, and received 110+ speaker awards.
FDA has also developed programs in 19 states and 8 countries, including Oregon, Arkansas, Australia, India, and more! In addition, Fremont Debate Academy has taught 100+ teachers from institutions like Broward County. Since 2014, our international team of over 200 volunteers has logged over 20,000+ hours, with several volunteers receiving certification for the gold-level Presidential Volunteer Service Award from FDA.

Students participating in FDA’s debate & civics programs saw a 39.1% improvement in their self-confidence & public speaking skills. Students participating in FDA’s debate & civics programs saw a 45.9% improvement in their knowledge about the world & research skills. 90% of students said participating in FDA’s debate & civics programs has had a positive impact on their academic performance.

FDA Brookvale Debate sessions will be held on Tuesdays in the MPR from 3:15 pm to 4:45 pm. There will be 8 classes for this program. The start date for the sessions will be October 25rd in person at Brookvale Elementary. Our last session will be on December 20th. November 22nd will be excluded due to Thanksgiving break. Bronco Gallop – 11/4

Bronco Gallop – 11/4

Hello Brookvale Families!

You have just received an email regarding the upcoming BRONCO GALLOP and we are excited to have some fun and raise a lot of money for the school at the same time! The Walkathon event will take place on Friday, November 4th and students will be doing their laps with their teachers and fellow students and will strive to achieve (or exceed) the $7,000 goal!

This year, Brookvale is partnering with 99Pledges (https://99pledges.com) to manage this event and collect funds via their secure online platform. This way you will be able to reach out to friends and family via email and social media!  You should have received an email from 99Pledges with a link to your student’s online pledge page. If you did not receive this email, simply search and find your child’s pledge page here: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/brookvale

All funds raised for this event will go towards student activities to enrich curriculum, supplemental curriculum and teacher supplies for the class!  We are confident that our families will achieve the current goal of $7,000!

We are also in need of parent volunteers for this event so please email your child’s teacher if you are interested. It’s a day of fun for the students and all for a good cause!

THANK YOU again for your continued support!  Go Broncos!:)

**UPDATE** – for parents interested in volunteering on the day of Bronco Gallop, please email your child’s teacher.  Thanks!!
