Please come join us at our first PTA meeting of the year where we will have FREE ICE CREAM SUNDAES for all families who have joined PTA. It is a great time to meet other parents and find out what is in store for this school year. The social will be Tuesday, September 10th at 6:30pm in the Multi- purpose Room. We will begin serving ice cream at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 7:00. We hope to see you all there! (If you are not already a PTA member, you will be able to join at the event). Kids welcome!

Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Our school year is off to a great start. The PTA is excited, looking forward to an- other rewarding school year filled with fun activities. We are ready for our Movie Nights, Carnivals, family nights, F.A.M.E.and a whole lot more.

PTA is a partnership between families and educators to enrich our children’s education. Brookvale is very blessed to have so many involved parents who really pour their heart and soul into our school and our chil- dren. There are many ways to get involved. We have monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss the programs and activities at our school. We also have a Room Parent program to help communicate to parents how they can help out. Whether you are available during the day to help with F.A.M.E., our parent run art program, or you are available in the evenings to help with our family nights—we have the perfect place for you. We have worked hard to build a strong community here at Brookvale and as we support each other our students reap the benefits. Let’s work together to make this the best school year yet!

Welcome back! And welcome all new families to Brookvale!

In your first day packet that the kids will be bringing home, you’ll find a yellow flyer explaining PTA membership and an envelope to fill out. We’re hoping you will all join this year! Every classroom to reach 80% PTA membership will win a popsicle party for the kids, as well as an extra $25 in classroom funds from the PTA. Please support your child’s class by becoming part of that 80%!

Why should I join Brookvale PTA? Because every person that joins the PTA means more money for Brookvale School for classroom enrichment, school supplies, facility improvements, computer equipment, and much more.

How do I join? Fill out a membership envelope, include $8 for each member, and return to your child’s teacher or the school office. Envelopes are available in the school office.

If I join, will I be required to come to meetings or volunteer at the school? No. (Of course we’d love to have volunteers, but we know many parents work or have other time constraints).

If I join, how will I benefit? PTA members will receive free membership cards that entitle you to discounts at California Academy of Sciences, Enterprise, Jamba Juice, LegoLand, Staples, T-Mobile, and others (details here). Members will also get free school calendar magnets, invitations to the PTA’s ice cream socials, and, most importantly, the satisfaction of knowing you are helping your child’s education.

Who can join? Everybody: parents, teachers, students, grandparents, friends, neighbors, the family dog, cat, fish (or even guinea pig!).

I joined last year, do I need to join again? Yes. Each school year is a new membership drive, and by joining again you will continue to support Brookvale.

Hello Parents,

This seemed like a good way to welcome the teachers! And five of the teachers with the most flower bud vases will receive a gift card toward classroom supplies. With many stores no longer offering “free school supply deals” for teachers, this will go a long way in helping the teachers and the classrooms.

Please make sure you give your school and your new teacher’s name correctly when you go to pick up a vase for them. And please make sure you thank Fremont Flowers – they have been doing this for so many years. See you all there!

Welcome Teacher Day is fast approaching!

Fremont Flowers is excited to welcome Whole Foods as a sponsor along with the Fremont Education Foundation, Boldly Me, and the Tri-City Voice. Five lucky teachers will receive a $50 gift certificate from Whole Foods, as well as one lucky classroom will receive a $100 classroom supply gift card from Fremont Flowers.

We expect to see over 1000 children on Tuesday, August 27 between 10 AM and 5 PM.

Welcome Teacher Day is open to all FUSD elementary school children. The FUSD teacher who receives the most flower bud vases will win the classroom supply gift card from Fremont Flowers.

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to school! We have an exciting opportunity to make our school year even better by participating in the GreatSchools Best Year Ever Sweepstakes. Our school could win $5,000!

Here’s how it works:

1. Write a review about our school at www.greatschools.org/sweepstakes. Your review is anonymous and just takes a minute to write. Parents, teachers and students 13 and older in K-12 schools can write reviews.
2. Ask two more people in your class to write reviews. When we have 3 new reviews this month, our school is entered in the drawing!
3. Increase our school’s chances to win. Every review over 3 per month gives us another entry into the drawing – up to 10 entries each month. Best of all, we have 3 chances for our school to win – with monthly drawings in August, September, and October 2013!
