Join us on Tuesday, March 12th at 6:30pm in the Multipurpose Room to help celebrate and honor the volunteers who have given the most to the Brookvale community. We will be presenting Honorary Service Awards to thank individuals and organzations.

As part of our Founders Day celebration, we are also supporting Zachary Soares (team “Zack Attack”) for the The Arthritis Foundation’s annual Arthritis Walk. Kids (and adults!) can make a small donation and show off their dance skills in a DANCE-OFF PARTY.

We are asking for volunteers to bring finger food to fuel the dancers (and everyone else). Thank you!

Founders Day

Brookvale Elementary is celebrating its PTA Founders Day on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013. This is the day that we try to raise awareness of PTA’s achievements in three key ways:

1. By understanding the goals and honoring the legacy of the Founders of the PTA: Alice Birney, Phoebe Hearst, and Selena Butler.
2. By highlighting and sharing the achievements of Brookvale PTA over the last school year. We hope to raise awareness of what we have been able to accomplish at Brookvale and hear from you what our goals should be in the next year.
3. By honoring our hard-working volunteers and community partners for their outstanding service to children. We thank these special individuals and organizations by presenting Honorary Service Awards to acknowledge their time, effort, and dedication as volunteers. They were nominated by the Brookvale community and selected by a neutral committee.

2013 Arthritis Walk

Every year we also celebrate Founders Day as a service day. This year we are proud to join forces to support a worthy organization: The Arthritis Foundation. One of our Brookvale students, Zachary Soares, is the honoree of the upcoming Arthritis Walk on May 4, 2013. We had an assembly this morning for Multicultural Week. Ms Chandana Vemuri (parent of former student Aparajitha) and Ms Uthra Srinivasan (current Brookvale parent) gave performances on Indian Classical Dance and Veena (Indian Classical Instrument) respectively.

We want to thank both of them for volunteering to give the presentation and performance. The kids got to experience a new culture and learnt something new.

We also want to thank Aparna Peri for helping put this assembly together and helping behind the scenes with costumes.

Additional thanks to the following: Justin helping set up the screen and the stage, Tammy for helping with all the little things (moving the piano, tables, microphones, etc.), and Mrs Hicks for her support and letting us share our vibrant culture(s) with the school.

Hand in your saved boxtops to your teachers in the month of February and the class with the highest number of box tops collected will win a pizza party for lunch! One class from the primary grades (TK–3) and one class from the upper grades (4–6) will win. So keep clipping and saving through February! Don’t forget to ask your friends and family to clip too.
