PTA Board Positions

PTA Board Positions

Greetings Brookvale Moms and Dads,

If you are interested in learning more about how the Fremont public school system works and really help make a difference in your student’s time at Brookvale, please consider taking on a PTA officer position next year.
We have 2 open positions for 2017-18:
Secretary: Attends and records Minutes of all PTA Board meetings. Variable workload.
VP of Programs:  Serves as a liaison to the PTA program chairs including: Bronco Gallop, Reflections Art program, TAW, movie nights, Founders Day, etc. Time: Attends monthly evening PTA Board meetings. Workload varies throughout the year.
Worried that you will not know what to do in these positions, or that taking on these task will be overwhelming? Please know that I will personally not leave you high and dry in these positions. I want the PTA to continue to flourish and support our students in the best way possible. That means making sure that the parents who are PTA officers succeed.
Are you not able to make the monthly PTA meetings at night? We hope to change the time of the meetings to right after drop-off in the mornings. Finalizing the schedule is currently in the works.
Please think about whether you have some interest in either of these positions and contact me at President.BrookvalePTA@gmail.com. We can set up time to chat with our current Secretary and/or VP of Programs and I.
Thank you for your time!
Regards,
Jennifer Louie-Monzon
Brookvale PTA, President 2016-18

Mid-year letter to Parents – March 2017

Mid-year letter to Parents – March 2017

Dear Brookvale Families,

Brookvale PTA exists to enrich our children’s time at Brookvale Elementary through a partnership between families and educators. We are an independent, non-profit organization that supports Brookvale’s school staff, helps promote student self-esteem, and assists in efforts to solve school needs through volunteering and funding.

Way back in August, we said that our goals for this school year were to focus on student enrichment within the arts, STEM, cultural awareness, and health and wellness.

What has happened so far this year and still yet to take place?

  • Disbursement of classroom and departmental grants
    • Homeroom teachers received $22 per student
    • Prep teachers (Science, Computer Lab, PE and the Library) each received $750
    • Other departments (Speech, Resource, Office, Custodial) each received $500
  • Movie Nights — October, January and March
  • Spirit Wear
  • Providing trophies and playground balls for Spirit Contests (co-run with Student Council)
  • Reflections Arts Program
  • Celebrating Hour of Code
    • Hosting a kick-off assembly
    • Purchasing Ozobot and Code & Go Robot Mice sets for classroom use
  • Celebrating International Week by co-sponsoring the Red Panda Acrobats assembly
  • STEM Assembly: Forces and Motion
  • Music Assemblies:
    • Golden Bough (Traditional Celtic Music)
    • Pacific Sticks (Touring a World of Percussion)
  • Deep Space Sparkle Art Program
    • Purchase of lesson plans for grades K-6
    • Allocating money for art supplies to run these lessons in the classrooms
  • Sponsoring 6th Grade Science Camp buses
  • Student Choir (first ever after school PTA sponsored and run program)
  • Sponsoring American HS Phillips Memorial Scholarships
  • Hosting Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW)

How is the Brookvale PTA able to sponsor and run all of these programs?

From you, the generous families who have dedicated volunteer time and donated money to this organization. Here is a snapshot of our fundraising efforts to date and a categorical breakdown of where the money went.
