Hi all,
Brookvale’s Lunar New Year flash mob dance celebration was a great success! The dancers did a great job and had lots of fun, and the crowd clearly enjoyed it.
Brookvale PTA would like to take a moment to mourn the passing away of our dear friend, Mr. James O’Neal, or Mister Jim, as he was fondly called by our students and staff.
An U.S Navy Veteran, Mister Jim worked at Brookvale for many years as a Custodian, because he loved to be close to the children and it was very important to him to give them the safest and cleanest environment possible. In fact many of of the trees that line our playground today were planted by Mister Jim in his days here at Brookvale.
Many of our parents and students may remember him as the doting grandfather who volunteered every Bronco Gallop and cheered the students on, along with his wife Lequita O’Neal or Grandma as we know her. They stood with us even this past October, though his health was failing and were there to cheer us on at the Bronco Gallop. Mister Jim was a fighter and he taught us all the importance of hard work and loving what you do and excelling in it.
We will miss him dearly!
Brookvale PTA Reflections program for 2016-17 had a tremendous response from our student community! We had over a 100 students interested and nearly 40 entries across all the grades. We were represented in all the six categories and we had two entries in Photography that were recognized at the Fremont Council:
Dominic Magliulo from 2nd Grade won the Award of Excellence for for his entry – ” The Ride” in the Primary Division – Photography
Sia Lele from 3rd Grade was awarded the “Rising Star” for her entry – “Estrella in Reflection” in the Intermediate Division – Photography
We also received 3D entries this year, one of which, “Tipping The Balance,” went forward to council this year and was one of the few select 3D entries in the middle school category at the council.
A huge thank you to all our students and parents for their tremendous support! And congratulations to all of the Brookvale students whose work was selected for the Council-wide contest:
