Golden Sneaker Contest : March 2-13, 2015

Lace up those shoes, dust off those bikes, or get ready to share your ride! The Safe Routes to Schools Pollution Solution 2015: Golden Sneaker Contest is at Brookvale Elementary.

For two weeks between March 2-13, each of our classrooms will be keeping track of their active and shared transportation to and from school. Active transportation includes: walking, biking or using a scooter. Shared transportation includes: using public transportation or carpooling (sharing your ride with people from another household). The classroom with the highest percentage of these healthy travel choices will win the Golden Sneaker Trophy.Remind your child to mark their mode of transportation on the poster posted outside their classroom.

Every student can participate. If you live far from school to walk or roll you can always:

• Park at least four blocks away and walk
• Meet up with friends who live close to school and walk as a group
• Start a carpool
• Have fun walking, rolling and sharing your ride!

Just a reminder that our next PTA meeting is on Tuesday, February 10th at 7pm in the school library.

Brookvale PTA is very lucky to have a parent who is a certified ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter, and who has volunteered to attend PTA meetings to interpret upon request. A PDF of the Brookvale 2014-15 School Directory has been emailed out to everybody who filled out a form to be listed in it at the beginning of the year. If you did not receive one, please email Rebecca LeGates (rlegates@gmail.com). Apologies for the delay in finishing the directory, it has taken much more time than anticipated.

Come enjoy Brookvale’s free family movie night on Friday, February 27rd. We will be showing Big Hero 6 at 6:30pm in the MPR (doors open at 6pm). Bring blankets, pillows, and (low) chairs to sit on. We will have popcorn, pizza and hot dogs and other snacks for sale (proceeds benefit Brookvale PTA). We are looking for parents who want to help with food concessions for the evening. Please show up a few minutes early. Thank you!
